The Opportunity:

Join the team transforming the future of the U.S. Army. As an Event Planner supporting Army Futures Command (AFC) , you will directly contribute to the Army's modernization and strategic communication initiatives. You'll coordinate and execute high-level events, including summits, staff rides, offsites, and national-level engagements, ensuring strategic alignment with Army 2030 and Army 2040 objectives.

This is a high-visibility role responsible for managing complex logistics and communication efforts, working closely with senior military leaders, internal directorates, and external partners across government, academia, and industry. Your efforts will support the Army's mission to remain agile, innovative, and dominant in future conflicts.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute major AFC events such as senior leader summits, town halls, training sessions, conferences, and offsite engagements.
  • Support high-profile engagements including AUSA, Hill engagements, and national-level programs involving academia and industry partners.
  • Develop detailed event plans, to include timelines, budgets, execution checklists, and run-of-show documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal directorates and external stakeholders to align events with AFC's strategic priorities and messaging.
  • Coordinate all facilities, audiovisual, and IT requirements to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Arrange logistical support including room setup, event material transport, tent rentals, seating, staging, and podiums.
  • Secure and organize equipment/supplies, and manage storage and accountability during and after events.
  • Utilize personal vehicles for transportation between local worksites; rental vehicles may be used for larger events outside the normal commute area.
  • Coordinate catering logistics including dietary accommodations, setup/tear-down, and compliance with local policies (contracting handled separately).
  • Work closely with the Communications Directorate to ensure branding and messaging are aligned with AFC objectives.
  • Manage guest lists, invitations, RSVPs, registration, and badging with precision and discretion.
  • Support VIP engagements by coordinating protocol, logistical, and security considerations.
  • Collect data, prepare After Action Reports (AARs), and maintain accurate event records for strategic analysis and continuous improvement.

Requirements

Required:
  • Current SECRET security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in event planning, coordination, or project management.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting military (DoD), government, industry, community, and academic engagement planning .
  • Experience engaging with senior executive stakeholders (preferably at the 2-star level and above) .
  • Familiarity with DoD regulations, protocol, and funding policies , including ORF and Executive Services budgeting constraints.
  • Strong attention to detail and proven ability to manage complex logistics under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to lift/move event materials (e.g., chairs, signage, floral arrangements, catering trays).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); experience with SharePoint and event management platforms preferred.
  • Availability to support events outside regular business hours and on occasional weekends.
Desired:
  • Knowledge of AFC's mission and modernization priorities (e.g., Next Gen Combat Vehicle, Network, Soldier Lethality).
  • Familiarity with Army protocol offices, communications directorates, and executive services.
  • Experience supporting national-level engagements involving multiple sectors.
  • Understanding of event metrics, data tracking, and after-action reporting processes.
  • Ability to operate independently in a dynamic, high-tempo environment with limited supervision.
