Job Description

We are currently seeking a BIM Manager to enhance the expertise, efficiency, and skills of our architecture team in utilizing Revit. A key responsibility of this role is to coordinate the transition from ArchiCAD to Revit. The successful candidate will work closely with various committees and resources, reporting to the Director of Practice.

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position with a competitive salary depending on experience, knowledge, qualifications, and location. A flexible, hybrid work schedule is available, with the expectation of working 24 hours per week in the office. Full remote work is not an option.

Primary Responsibilities:

Transition Management and Development of BIM Standards

  • Lead the transition from ArchiCAD to Revit by developing new Revit standards and templates.
  • Collaborate with external consultants to create and implement BIM guidelines and custom tools tailored to the firm's project workflows and deliverables.
  • Support the beta test project team by developing standards specific to the firm's workflow.
  • Foster a positive attitude towards change management involving BIM software.

Internal BIM Standards for Workflow – Maintenance and Oversight

  • Develop and oversee BIM standards and guidelines, ensuring they align with the production team's needs.
  • Create BIM execution plan templates and guide project teams in developing project-specific plans.
  • Research software features and tools to enhance workflow efficiency and implement them effectively.
  • Update and maintain Revit templates with new software versions.
  • Regularly coordinate with project teams to ensure consistency and quality in BIM files and drawing output.
  • Collaborate with the sustainability lead to integrate sustainability performance tracking tools.
  • Manage and maintain the Revit library and families.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships within the office.
  • Advise project teams on BIM-related solutions during coordination meetings.
  • Lead a BIM committee in developing and maintaining best practices.
  • Serve as a resource for inquiries about Revit and its integration with other software.

Training and Mentorship

  • Expand the team's BIM expertise to enhance document quality and efficiency.
  • Maintain and update BIM training materials for new and current employees.
  • Provide mentorship and constructive feedback to junior team members.
  • Encourage the sharing of BIM knowledge across the team.
  • Organize and conduct training sessions to promote best practices in BIM.

Software Maintenance

  • Coordinate with IT for software licensing, installation, and management.
  • Lead the implementation of add-ons and plugins for Revit.
  • Review new software versions and incorporate necessary customizations.

These responsibilities are indicative but not exhaustive. The role requires collaborative teamwork and the flexibility to meet project deadlines within budget constraints.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Hold a professional degree in architecture or a related field, or possess equivalent experience.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in architecture or a related discipline, with a focus on applying digital tools to architectural projects.
  • Proven expertise and/or certification in Revit and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
  • Familiarity with ArchiCAD is beneficial but not required.
  • Experience with additional software such as SketchUp, Grasshopper, and Rhino is advantageous.
  • Strong ability to present and document technical concepts clearly.
  • Keen understanding of architectural design and documentation processes across all project phases.
  • Self-driven to explore new software capabilities and identify ways to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage information and tasks concurrently.
  • Superior communication and teaching skills to effectively educate team members.
