The Care Promoter 1 is an unlicensed medical professional cross-trained to perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical centers running smoothly. Duties vary depending on size, location, and type of center. Responsibilities include measuring and recording patient vital signs, cataloging and communicating patient needs to clinical personnel, preparing patients for exams, performing routine screening tests, assisting physicians, explaining treatment procedures, observing and reporting patient condition changes, performing non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures under physician supervision, collecting lab specimens, administering medications, changing dressings, applying bandages, removing sutures, using CPR skills when necessary, maintaining supplies and equipment, practicing OSHA safety standards, documenting accurately and ethically, processing patient phone messages, calling patients for information relay, calling in prescriptions upon physician approval, providing health coaching to patients, and performing other duties as assigned. Requires excellent interpersonal skills, communication, time management, organizational skills, collaboration ability, knowledge of medical terminology and procedures, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and willingness to travel locally or regionally up to 10%. Education and experience criteria include a high school diploma or equivalent, graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare vocational training, minimum 1 year experience as Medical Assistant or similar, BLS for Healthcare Providers certification, and preferred EMR system experience. Experience with geriatric patients is a plus.
