Job Description

Overview:

The Director, Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) leads CrossFirst Banks corporate BSA/AML team, including anti-money laundering/countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT), client on-boarding, and sanction compliance. The Director is responsible for establishing strategies, policies, procedures, and programs to prevent violations of law, rule, or regulation. They will design and deliver a framework that meets the highest standards for regulatory compliance while maintaining efficient operations. The Director serves as a trusted, influential risk consultant and active participant in Bank initiatives. The Director collaboarates with other leaders on Bank projects, including but not limited to, additions and modifications to products, services, and client verticals; implementing technology; and executing efficient operations. They work directly with leadership to ensure sound risk governance and risk management practices throughout the Bank.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, administer and monitor the BSA/AML program to ensure compliance with laws, regulations and rules governing operations and product offerings, appropriate for the size, complexity and risk profile of the Bank.
  • Design and execute the annual BSA/AML and OFAC risk assessments. Utilize the risk assessment to drive resource allocation and continuous improvement in the Banks BSA/AML program.
  • Oversee AML model development and optimization, ensuring sound risk coverage, adequate quantitative model assessment and validation, and data quality completeness and integrity.
  • Prepare quarterly materials and present to executive management and the Board of Directors, including reporting on risk assessments, emerging risks, regulatory and organizational change, monitoring results, and open issues.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain risk management policies, standards, processes and procedures to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate appropriate training for BSA/AML department. Ensure adequate training of Bank employees and directors to maintain a high-level of knowledge of BSA/AML/OFAC compliance.
  • Research and analyze federal and state banking laws and regulations, and lead the implementation of regulatory changes.
  • Oversee remediation of compliance-related issues identified through risk assessment, monitoring, audits, or examinations.
  • Contribute thought leadership regarding BSA/AML risk, regulation, and best practices when collaborating with other leaders on Bank projects and initiatives.
  • Provide consultative support to business partners to identify opportunities for control improvements with the objective of mitigating risk and improving compliance and operational performance.

  • Monitor workflow and operational efficiency in order to recommend process improvements.
  • Drive continual process improvement to streamline business processes, increase efficiencies and remove redundancies.
  • Meet financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, and maintaining costs , tracking expenses, adjusting where appropriate, and promoting fiscal responsibility.
  • Develop and maintain written policies and procedures.
  • Prepare management reports as requested.
  • Clearly communicate performance expectations to team members and address any deficiencies in a timely manner.
  • Interact with internal and external clients while providing extraordinary service.
  • Develop and maintain trusted, positive relationships with employees, clients and vendors.
  • Represent the Bank and Enterprise Risk Management team in a highly professional manner.
  • Complete job assignments in a professional, timely and efficient manner; organize and prioritize work.
  • Maintain confidentiality; adhere to CrossFirst Bank policies and procedures; comply with laws, regulations and industry best practices.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance; both onsite and remote.

Qualifications:
  • Eight years direct experience in BSA/AML compliance, BSA/AML audit, regulatory examination, or a combination thereof.
  • Five years experience leading a team or department.
  • Expert knowledge of BSA/AML and OFAC compliance laws, rules, regulations, and risks.
  • Comprehensive understanding of bank deposit operations, lending activities, cash intensive and high-risk business banking, and other related consumer banking and compliance functions.
  • Experience in oral and written communications, including preparing reports and making presentations, to executive leadership, board and regulators.
  • Experience developing and managing BSA/AML risk management programs at a federally regulated bank with more than $10B in assets preferred
  • Experience implementing and operating a sophisticated suspicious activity monitoring model preferred.
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) designation or equivalent required.
