We are seeking strong, reliable and hardworking Stagehands to join our event production team. The primary responsibility of this role is to assist with the loading, assembly, and breaking down of stages for various live events, including concerts, festivals, corporate functions, and special events procured by Austin Stage Rentals (doing installs in the Dallas / Fort Worth area, as well). This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
We are looking to hire on-call, part-time stage hands to help build our projects, which range in size from large events to small gatherings. Pay ranges from $20-35 depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks with stage equipment and event materials.
Assemble and disassemble stages, including platforms, risers, trusses, backdrops, and other stage elements.
Work collaboratively with event production teams to ensure stages are safely and efficiently constructed according to the event specifications.
Perform general labor tasks such as lifting, carrying, and positioning stage equipment.
Ensure the worksite is clean and organized before, during, and after stage construction and teardown.
Follow safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.
Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to supervisors immediately.
Assist in managing on-site storage of event materials and equipment.
Qualifications:
Prior experience as a Stagehand or in event production is preferred but not required.
Ability to lift heavy objects (50 lbs or more) and perform physical tasks for extended periods. Excellent stamina and strength.
Ability to consistently walk, stand, bend, stoop, push, pull, and twist
Ability to use tools needed to build and strike sets, including hand tools and power tools
Knowledge of basic stage rigging, construction tools, and equipment is a plus
Strong teamwork and communication skills. Interact positively with cast members, crew members, clients, vendors and audience members.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the event schedule.
Must be able to work indoors or outdoors under varying weather conditions
Must wear appropriate attire, personal protective equipment (PPE), and footwear for concert / corporate events
Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure in fast-paced environments.
Must have reliable, personal transportation to access varying job sites
Ability to drive a box truck and operate heavy equipment (such as forklift and manlift) preferred but not required.
Job Expectations:
Competitive hourly wage: range of $20-35/hr depending on experience
This is a part-time, on-call position, with a minimum paid period of a ‘4-hour call’
We are a 24 / 7 business, including nights, weekends & holidays
