The position is for the Andover, MA and is a hybrid role.
The Metal Processes section of the Materials and Process Engineering Department is seeking an individual with technical expertise in Welding Engineering to support all phases of design and manufacturing for a multitude of programs.
- What You Will Do*
- Design for manufacturability reviews, process selection and definition, supplier assessment and recommendation, failure analysis, weld and braze inspection, welding and brazing procedure development, training of welders/brazers and weld/braze inspectors, supplier weld and braze process development, and administration of the weld/braze certification program.
- Supporting manufacturing operations by performing technical assessments, implementing process and design refinements, and monitoring and improving the quality of welded and brazed products.
- Technical knowledge and experience developing, working with, and approving welding and brazing processes for in-house (make) capabilities as well as at Supplier (buy) partners. This position will require monthly travel to international locations.
- Qualifications You Must Have *
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Welding, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience and prior relevant experience, or three (3) years minimum of experience with an Advanced Degree in the aforementioned discipline(s).
- Experience in welding and brazing procedure development and/or testing, welder and/or welding operator/brazer and/or brazing operator training and certifications, welding and brazing fabrication problem solving and/or weld/braze inspection.
- Experience in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and/or other technical material and/or then translating into practical procedural instructions.
- Experience using AWS QC-1, IIW Certification, or equivalent
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Qualifications We Prefer *
- Working knowledge of Military and Commercial Welding Specifications
- Basic understanding of welding and brazing metallurgy
- AWS QC-1 Certified Welding Inspector
- Non-destructive Testing certifications
- Experience with aluminum, structural steel, stainless steel, titanium, and nickel alloys used in welding and brazing fabrications.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
