That is just the beginning of what we offer here at Comfort Systems USA Southwest! We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Sheet Metal Prefabrication Apprentice. This position offers a unique opportunity to learn and develop skills in the sheet metal industry through hands-on training and formal education. The apprentice will work under the guidance of experienced professionals to fabricate and assemble sheet metal components for various applications.
Responsibilities: - Fabricate and assemble sheet metal components including spiral, square, and rectangular ductwork.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication and installation.
- Work with various material types and gauges, including galvanized and stainless steel.
- Cut in taps and apply duct sealant as necessary.
- Work with multiple trades within the shop to install ductwork on multi-trade assemblies.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and work independently to meet project deadlines.
- Follow all safety protocols and always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Responsible for tracking and logging time per task.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure efficiency and safety.
- Adapt to changing work environments and tasks as directed by supervisors.
- Operate machinery and hand tools under supervision to cut, shape and assemble sheet metal.
- Attend apprenticeship classes and training sessions to further develop skills and knowledge in sheet metal fabrication.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow within the trade or industry.
Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Able to work full-time (40 hours per week) on a consistent basis.
- Ability to wear and adhere to appropriate PPE requirements.
- Open-minded and eager to learn and grow in the sheet metal fabrication trade.
- Willing to participate in apprenticeship classes if accepted into the program.
- Basic understanding of mechanical principles is a plus.
- Previous experience in sheet metal work or a related field is beneficial but not required.
